Florida governor Ron DeSantis has announced a plan to invest in the development of affordable housing. The goal is to create additional affordable housing in order to address the state’s housing shortage and rising housing costs, the South Florida Business Journal reports. Senate Bill 102, aka the Live Local Act, increases funding for affordable housing projects, helps developers win approvals for affordable housing plans and does not allow any government controls on rent prices. “This is transformative,” said Pinnacle partner David O. Deutch. “There is now a certainty of funding and an iron-clad commitment to affordable and workforce housing in the state.”
