What’s being built there? Apartments may be rented at $1,100 and $1,400 a month to seniors in Miramar

The Sun Sentinel features Pinnacle at La Cabaña in its ‘What’s being built there?’ series. According to Pinnacle partner Tim Wheat, the complex will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments for residents aged 62 and older. Amenities will include meeting spaces, a fitness center, computer room, dog walk, putting green, and cornhole court. Construction is underway, with an estimated mid-2025 completion date. The project aims to provide affordable, age-appropriate living options for seniors in the area.

Seniors “generally tend to be more cost burdened, they are paying more than a reasonable proportion (of their income) on housing-related costs,” Tim said. He said the project would provide “much-needed housing stability for the most vulnerable in Miramar” but acknowledges it still “won’t come close to meeting the need. We have a significantly aging population that is going to need affordable age restricted housing.”
