Landings at East Point was part of an ambitious multi-property redevelopment strategy implemented by the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers (HACFM) and Pinnacle. The buildings were acquired by HACFM through foreclosure by HUD in the early 1990s, and had suffered from poor physical condition and obsolescence. Pinnacle and HACFM implemented a development program which involved “gutting” the buildings entirely in a total renovation, reducing the total number of units from 200 to 126 and creating “like new” generous living space for residents receiving project-based rental assistance renewed by HUD for another 20 years. The result is a LEED Platinum-certified 21st Century living environment with green features such as solar water heating.
